Are you carrying around too many burdens by your own choice? God has offered to help us with our load, but as my guest, Alisha Ritchie reminds us, He can only help if we let Him.

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13 NIV
Twenty-three pounds- that’s exactly how much my son’s backpack weighs. It is stuffed full of books, folders, paper, and pencils, enough supplies for six middle school classes. Yes, he has a locker but chooses to carry all this weight around with him- everyday, all day. Zack doesn’t feel he has time to get to his locker between classes or maybe he is partly just lazy. The point is that he carries a tremendous burden on his back by his own choice.
As Zack’s mom, this frustrates me because I know it is not good to carry this heavy load all the time. I can only imagine how tiring this must be. But then I am prompted to think, “Isn’t this how I act too? Don’t I carry around so many burdens by my own choice?” Sometimes I am reluctant to give all my worries over to the Lord. The scriptures remind us that God is here to help us. He is right beside us, going through what we are experiencing.
God desires to give us encouragement and hope in our times of need. Release your burdens to Him so that He can lighten your load. If we get rid of the stuff that is weighing us down in our backpacks of life, we have so much more room for the wonderful things that God has in store for us. God wants to shower us with blessings of peace, love, contentment, and joy. We just need to make sure we make enough room to receive them.

Oh yes and Amen Alisha! Thank you for the reminder to give our burdens and weights to Him.
Thank you for your comments, Marcie!!! I have to remind myself quite frequently God is always there, wanting to help, encourage, and give peace. Have a blessed day!
Gosh, those backpacks make me remember the loads of homework my son always had, and the utter agony at home with such homework burdens! you are so right we need to put all our burdens on God, to lighten our load, to move from worldly stresses..and the worrisome heavy backpacks!!
